Leap Into The Unknown
The Comfort of Stability
Working at Apple was a dream come true. I joined the company on October 31, 2022, as a Cloud Engineer contractor. Before Apple, I was a civil servant (PNS) in Indonesia, so transitioning to a global tech giant was already a major leap in my career. membuka pintu baru
At Apple, I experienced significant financial growth—my salary increased by nearly 50% in the first year. Just before I decided to leave, I was even offered another substantial raise, making the decision to leave even harder. The financial stability, the opportunity to work with the brightest minds, and being part of innovative projects made Apple an incredibly comfortable and rewarding place to grow.
The Dilemma of Uncertainty
But then, a new opportunity came—Boon AI, a startup with big ambitions but no guarantees. There was no established reputation, no safety net, and no comfort zone. However, what it did have was a passionate team dedicated to building something meaningful from the ground up.
Boon AI is on a mission to build the AI workflow platform for supply chain and logistics. By connecting customer systems and automating workflows, Boon AI aims to help businesses significantly improve efficiency and profitability.
On January 20, 2025, I officially joined Boon AI, but with a significant shift in my role—from a Cloud Engineer contractor at Apple to a full-time Software Engineer at Boon AI. Financially, my compensation remained roughly the same as Apple, but the transition to a full-time role brought new challenges and opportunities that were entirely different.
The Inner Struggle of Making the Decision
This wasn’t an easy choice. Leaving Apple meant letting go of the comfort and stability I had worked so hard to build. The raise I was offered only made the decision tougher. I found myself torn—should I stay in my safe, predictable role, or take a risk on something uncertain?
On the other hand, Boon AI offered a chance to grow, learn, and create something impactful. It was a choice between security and potential—not guaranteed—growth.
Taking the Leap with Conviction
In the end, I chose to take the risk and step into the unknown. Apple had shaped me, but Boon AI challenged me to grow further. I don’t know how this journey will end, but I’m confident that every step taken with conviction will bring valuable lessons.
And even if there are obstacles along the way, I won’t regret it—because I dared to try.
